NASA is already all over them for bucking the trend. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/11jul_solarcycleupdate.htm >>> Stop the presses! The sun is behaving normally.
So says NASA solar physicist David Hathaway. "There have been some reports lately that Solar Minimum is lasting longer than it should. That’s not true. The ongoing lull in sunspot number is well within historic norms for the solar cycle." >>>
We are in a cool minimum but that should start to change by the end of the year. If I had to choose I’d take warming over cooling. I think I’ll go by a Hummer just in case. :-) |

Let me turn the PR puffery into something more accurate for you.
“After cherry-picking through unspecified body of climate research, and in conjunction with not particularly obvious or compelling new evidence that may or may not survive scrutiny, it is time that the larger scientific community acknowledges a small fringe’s conclusion that the Earth has begun its next climate change. In an opinion disputed by many scientists around the world, a company whose business plan is based on global-warming denial today declares that the world’s climate warming of the past decades has now come to an end."
Yawn. Come back when there’s news. |

a company whose business plan is based on global-warming denial today declares that the world’s climate warming of the past decades has now come to an end." Yeah, as opposed to Al Gore’s company whose business plan is based on global-warming hysteria.
Do you seriously think CO2 is all it takes? Later when you’re not flat broke and living in mud hut to satisfy the global warmers you can, but won’t, thank those of us who wanted to see real science applied to the problem.
Carbon footprint, carbon offsets. What a joke.

Efficiency is as good for business as it is for the environment. The real joke is this "reducing emissions will kill the economy" BS, which is thoroughly debunked in _Natural Capitalism_ among other places. |

So, Jeff, you completely ignore the staggering inaccuracies and blatant falsehoods proclaimed by Global Warming Advocates, or do you just continue using Fallacious Arguments whenever you don’t like what you see. |

Efficiency is as good for business as it is for the environment. The real joke is this "reducing emissions will kill the economy" So the Whole Cap and Trade debacle in the Senate, that was good, I mean driving gasoline prices up higher is good? Efficiency is NOT synonymous with high price...Articially inflating the price of a good, commodity or service is NOT efficient, it is making the system poorer, not richer. |

As in Iraq, I suspect global warming will be settled by the facts on the ground or in the sky. If we see another rise in temperature like in the nineties, people will get serious about global warming. If the temp stays where it is or drops, no. |

The interesting thing about the left’s hysteria is that they don’t seem to blink when proven wrong.
When AGW is proven false, Gore et al will just latch onnto the next reason to destroy Western economies . . . |

The real joke is this "reducing emissions will kill the economy" BS, which is thoroughly debunked in _Natural Capitalism_ among other places. Efficiency is great. That’s why we burn oil. It’s an efficient energy source. We should also start building nuke power plants, specifically breeder reactors (and while I’m thinking of it, we should force Jimmy Carter onto a peanut farm in Zimbabwe so he can be closer to his pal Mugabe).

GCC is happening, and there might be a slight human factor which accelerates it.
Having said that, the alarmism is what I object to. we simply do not know enough about what is happening or what is going to happen to make any wild guesses.
ALSO, the people who try to make their case for AGW use many logical fallacies including argumentum ad hominem, appeal to authority, and appeal to consensus.
It might have been helpful to include some classes in rhetoric and diplomacy with those science majors. |

So reducing CO2 emissions only is that the magic silver bullet? Is that the one magic thing we’re all going to reduce that will make the magic and cause the warming to stop? Good thing for cats that we’ve advanced since the 1850s, otherwise you might suggest we should all gather in the cemetery at midnight and whirl dead cats around our heads to solve the problem.

Man is an arrogant creature who overstates his impact on the Earth. Go outside and look at the night sky. Our planet is trivial. On Earth, we are trivial. If climate is going to change, our Hummers and air conditioners will not matter. Neither will self imposed privations. As the Crosby Stills & Nash song says, "we are star dust."
William Shakespeare had Al Gore and his global warming rant figured out in Macbeth (Act 5 Scene 5) "A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
When I see Al Gore, another scene from Macbeth comes to mind (Act 2 Scene 1) "Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee."

I think what bugs me most about Jeff Darcy and the Goreacle’s AGW Storm Troopers is the instant willingness to set the Panic Rule Meter at 11. "When in Danger, when in Doubt, Run in Circle, Scream and Shout!"
Seriously, using the equivalent of shouting down your opponent while sticking your fingers in your ears is hardly either convincing nor edifying.
Suppose the sunspots haven’t kicked in by 2009? 2010? 2011? How long before the Church of AGW is willing to admit there might be something to the opposition’s side of the argument?
Maybe they’ll all have to move the the ManBearPig’s digs in Tennessee. There should be enough room for them. |

Dear Mr. McQuain,
Please accept my thanks for picking up on the Climate Change Declaration of the Space and Science Research Center, issued July 1, 2008.
There will remain a good bit of scepticism for some time about the announcement which is fully understandable given the past 20 years of non stop man made global warming to which we have been subjected. A review of the important signs of the start of the next climate change coupled with the list of other scientists around the world who have also predicted the coming cold era (found at the center’s web site), should give your readers reason to continue to follow this climate shift.
In the words of a former Chairman of the US House of Representatives Science Committee, the theory behind this Declaration, the RC Theory, "...should be seriously considered...."
Posting this subject may help some be more prepared when the cold comes.
Thanks Again,
John L. Casey Director Space and Science Research Center |
