I'm sitting in the PAO office aboard the USS Kearsarge writing this post.
Everyone has been amazing. And this ship is huge. I've been up and down the maze of corridors and I still couldn't find my way around on a bet. When running this maze you almost forget that this is like a self-sufficient city on the sea. Anyway, it is shaping up to be one fun few days.
There are any number of different groups represented on this voyage. We have Canadian military, Brazilian military, US Public Health Service and, I'm sure, others. Those are the one's I've noticed.
As this is a humanitarian cruise, below decks are loaded with tons of material to be used on the mission. There's a briefing at 8am tomorrow and then we get underway at 10.
I'm literally chomping at the bit to head out to sea. So far myself and blogger Danny Glover are the only one's aboard. However there's another group showing up at about 8pm. As I understand it, there are 8 of us in total.
So, so far, smooth flight, perfect hookup with the Kearsarge rep at Norfolk, on board with internet access and have already met a group of fabulous folks.
