First Rudy, then Palin, wow, that was two hits right out of the ballpark. This is what was necessary to get me enthusiastic about McCain.
I stated publicly that I would not support him if he chose a bad VP. But this has exceeded my expectations.
I hope he makes Rudy the press secretary. I would love to see him gut and fillet David Gregory. |

I thought that she started out a bit slow and then really hit her stride. Our friends on the left have misunderestimated Governor Palin at their peril. |

The Dems (and their lackeys in the press) certainly underestimated Palin. She appeared quite happy to take them on, regardless of whether its a home or away game. |

I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities. Geeze, and we thought McCain would be the attack-dog...
I think I see a mushroom cloud over the Obama Camp... |

Our friends on the left have misunderestimated Governor Palin at their peril. Apparently, they’re starting to realize that:Several moderate-Democrat friends of mine have been emailing—few if any would ever vote for McCain—but all agree that Palin was very strong. The more liberal among them are a little panicked. |

I really don’t want to be premature about this, and I’ve tried not to say "it’s over for Obama" but ...Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said yesterday that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November. As reported in the Guardian mere hours ago.
This is what desperation looks like. If, at this point in the campaign, the best they can pull is the "we’ll throw that criminal mastermind Bush behind bars!" if they are so bereft of ideas they’re swinging for the Democrat Underground crowd, I’ll come out and say it: it’s over. This is a hard left swerve, and a cracking of the veneer. And I can’t help but think it is a frantic move leaping full-armed from the sweaty brow of desperation. A pale brow beaded courtesy of Sarah "Baracuda" Palin.
Rock. |

*chuckle* I can’t believe you dense righties fell for her act. I mean, I know you’re dense and all, and you really, really want to believe that McCain has a ghost of a chance even after we wise leftists have assured you the election is over. But she’s so transparent! Her speech was obviously written for her by GOP power-mongers, and she was intensively coached to make it come out to please the delegates.
But the American people won’t be fooled. Certainly the people here in the faculty lounge were not. We hooted at half her lines. And who does she think she is, making fun of Obama? Why, the entire black population will be offended by her remarks! Why, I bet the percentage of the black vote that goes for Obama will be at least 95% now. Well, I suppose it would probably be at least 94% no matter what, but still. They’ll be angry!
And they’ll tell the media how angry they are. And we’ll continue to see article after article tearing her down for her hairdo, her accent, her nondescript degree from some Idaho cow college, her pregnant daughter, her alcoholic husband, and the way she treated that poor innocent government worker just because she didn’t like him.
No, the American people are much too smart to be taken in by such an obvious phony as Palin. The election is over. You dense righties are just delusional to think otherwise. |

I’ve got to give credit to McCain. He is running a pretty good campaign and choosing Palin is a good decision so far. Who knows if she can withstand the media onslaught although, after tonight, she seems pretty tough to me. I hope she kicks Biden’s a$$ in the debate. |

Wow.
Gloria Steinem is apoplectic. The faux feminists can’t stand a woman who actually likes being a woman and is good at it. To paraphrase George Hanson (Easy Rider): "Oh, yeah, they’re gonna talk to you, and talk to you, and talk to you about women being equal to men. But when they see a woman actually doing it, it’s gonna scare ’em". |

We may have seen the first female President of the United States. Yeah, it’s early. But wow.
The McCain Palin signs go up in the yard today. I’ll probably send $ to the Libertarian Party, as per usual, but my vocal support and vote are going to the team that has the best chance of stopping the nightmare that will follow if the bad guys win.
McCain is looking like a genius.
Oh yeah, wow.

Yeah, sorry about that Augustus. Some villain in marketing decided that "Ci@lis" would be a good name for a pharmaceutical. So out goes "Speci@list" and "Soci@lism" and so on, so that we can filter out some of the spam. |

The campaign crew around McCain were probably rolling on the floor with joy about halfway through that speech.
Honestly, taken as a whole, I’ve never seen anything like it in American politics.
Completely down to earth, none of that high-flown BS, an exactly real person, with an exactly real life. You cannot manufacture stuff like that. She sat right down at the kitchen table with people and told them, yeah, I know how you feel and this is exactly how I’m going to be when I sit down at the table in Washington, and they didn’t just want to believe her, they did believe her.
She has it all working, and the Democrats should be happy only in one respect: that she’ll be debating Joe Biden and not Obama himself. Because she’d take him apart so bad he’d be crying. |

Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said yesterday that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November. Biden: no president ...is above the law If he and Obama are truly convicted that the president is guilty of crimes, they should begin the impeachment process. What are they waiting on? Since they have not, they either do not truly believe what they say or do not have any balls. |

Do you suppose she has a bit of that old FDR fireside chat quality? The way she defined their energy policy makes me think so. It would be interesting to have her do a series of televised talks about conservatism/libertarianism. |
