Since the Dems are obviously digging for anything to discredit her, and the MSM is working with then hand in glove, she sure will be vetted.
Unlike Bill Ayers buddy. |

Don,
My thoughts aren’t original with regards to this, but one of the best things any candidacy can do - both Democratic or Republican - is run against the media.
Since the Dems are obviously digging for anything to discredit her...
Why shouldn’t they be? That’s part of the competitive process which is elections.

McQ,
So, do you ever look to Intrade? Trading there still has Obama as the likely winner in November.

So, do you ever look to Intrade? Trading there still has Obama as the likely winner in November. I have - most of the numbers there are still reflecting pre-Palin to this point.
We actually have used intrade for a number of races in the past as a comparison witht he polls. |

I think that McCain now has a clear path to victory if he continues with his extremely efficient campaign of the past two months.
With the base on board because of Palin, he can now send Palin out after Reagan Democrats. That means that Pennsylvania is in play and winnable. And that’s why Obama was there today.
Despite McCain’s rather watery (until the end) speech last night, he has shrunk the electoral map for Obama and enlarged it for himself.
Ultimately, he will have to go after Obama’s ridiculous vulnerabilities (with which we are all familiar). It will get nasty, but never so nasty as Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers. They must be seen as Obama’s real spokesmen, his sponsors, his political and spiritual mentors.
I’m ready to say this right now: the American people will not elect Obama president. |

The MSM knows more about Palin in a week than they’ve bothered to learn about Obama in a year. |

The Dems are flummoxed right now. They don’t know how to counter Palin. Their anser is, "She is another Washington insider." Re: David Axelrod (and, when he said it, looking like a tired old man).
Just look at the crowds that greeted Palin today. If this is any measure, we will start to see polls turn around this week and next. Even Mark Halperin of Time Magazine (no conservative he) said last night that he expects McCain to be in the lead by next week.
There goes that lead for Obama. Right out the window. |

As some one said some at another site, McCain is playing chess and the ONE is playing checkers. I saw a interesting post by TigerHawk today. He thinks McCain did not just pick her for the base and the female vote, but for the male vote in middle America. The working stiff who is not afraid of a strong woman who is smart and good looking. I thought of my mother and grandmothers. Strong farm women who could work in the fields all day with her man and then cook supper while he did the rest of the before dark chores. And get up the next day and do it again. I told my wife last Friday after watching the introduction speech that McCain had just won the election. She said "because he picked a female". I said no, because he picked THAT female. I have not seen anything this week to change my mind. I am a Canuck and cannot vote in your election, wish we could steal her to replace the dull dips we have in Canada. Go SARAH Ivan in Ontario p.s. You have one of ours as Governor of Michigan, good riddance, she is a prime example of the type of pol we have here. |

Ivan’s comments are exactly on target, especially this:I saw a interesting post by TigerHawk today. He thinks McCain did not just pick her for the base and the female vote, but for the male vote in middle America. The working stiff who is not afraid of a strong woman who is smart and good looking. I thought of my mother and grandmothers. Just one of the ways in which Leftist feminism has divided and, frankly, ruined America, is the way it has set women against men. It has said to men, "your mothers and grandmothers were oppressed and disrespected. Motherhood itself is oppresive and suspect."
In fact the organic growth of women in American society created spectacularly strong, feminine women. Neither hard-boiled Thatchers, nor airheads, but smart, multi-dimensional, tough, graceful women. Those were the kinds of women, at least, who I grew up around. They were likely to have attitudes like Myrna Loy or Bette Davis, on the dime, quick. And in the siege of life’s troubles they kept a square jaw.
That’s why the guys dig Sarah. She’s resolute and she likes them. |

The MSM knows more about Palin in a week than they’ve bothered to learn about Obama in a year. Yeah, well, they knew stuff about Bush’s NG record that wasn’t even true. Yet they didn’t have a clue about Kerry.
One advantage R’s have: the MSM vetts their candidates. |

Now, where is Erb?
No doubt he will come along and explain where we are all wrong.
As far as chess and checkers goes, my view is that McCain is inside Obama’s OODA loop. Even chess is a static game where each side takes turns; real life isn’t like that. |

Now, where is Erb? Gasping for breath.
Not to worry though, he’ll push his reset button soon enough and be cleansed of his "old bits." |

Hi Don What I meant with the chess example was that chess is a game of strategy and deception. Keep your rival looking in one direction while you set him up for check mate. I also agree on the OODA example. I spent 25 years in the oil industry as a supervisor at one level or another. When something goes wrong you do not have time to sit down and think and wright out all your options. It is 3AM and you have no one to call. You have to act now on the limited information available. No matter what you do, it is going to cost. It could be your life or your job. You cannot run away. Ivan in Ontario |
