Joe Biden: ’She crushed every male opponent in her political career?’ A: Yep.
Biden: ’And, her husband’s a libertarian?’ A: Yep.
Biden: ’But all these rumors. She ever get caught plagiarizing, like I did?’ A: ’Nope. Not ever!’
Biden: ’Ever get caught lying to the voters, like I did?’ A: ’Nope.’
Biden: ’"Crushed" ’em all?’ A: ’Every lyin’ sack of moose-dung one of them!’
Biden: ’Well, at least I’ve got more experience to run on.’ A: ’Yes, Joe, you do. Saracuda’s certain to mention your ’experience,’ a lot!’ |

They need to add the rumor that Palin called Obama Sambo. Of course I heard Obama say that he hated the US and that he was a Muslim and needs to pray 5 times a day and that after he is elected he will open the borders for Mexico, have a government take over of the oil companies and take all the money from anyone who makes more than 20k a year as long as they vote republican.
Of course they are just rumors. I wonder when I will get interviewed by CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, NY TIMES, and CNN.

Here’s an article about Palin and earmarks. Palin’s got some explainin’ to do. Now, the Dems are going to fight her on this and, even though the Dems love earmarks just as much as the Repubs, this revelation will hurt her credibility and, logically, McCain’s electability. The following is an excerpt from that article.
In 1996, when Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla, a city of about 8,000 some 40 miles north of Anchorage, she did not take part in the earmark process.
But by 2000, into her second term, the city had hired a Washington, D.C., lobbyist, Steven Silver, a former aide to Stevens, then the ultimate rainmaker as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

A 17 paragraph excerpt is a bit much for a blog comment, Nuclear. Readers, feel free to follow the link.

Capt Joe:
It doesn’t. But Obama is not running an anti-earmark campaign...McCain-Palin are. It goes to her credibility, whether you can trust her word. Now, I like Palin a lot better than Obama (who’s downright scary). I wonder how she’s going to respond to Obama’s attacks on this subject, which he is starting to do. |

It goes to her credibility, whether you can trust her word. Really - when’s the last time she stuffed an earmark in a budget bill in Congress? |

McQ,
The article (that is linked to above) states: "Just this year, she sent to Sen. Ted. Stevens, R-Alaska, a proposal for 31 earmarks totaling $197 million — more, per person, than any other state." Granted, this is much less than the $550 million that were requested in 2007. However, she has come across in her recent public appearances as anti-earmark. This is an apparent contradiction that she will have to explain.

Gee that’s great, Nuclear - but she still has no means or power to pass an earmark.
The three other candidates do. And of the three, only two do it regularly and in large amounts.

There is NOTHING logically inconsistent with being against earmarks and seeking them as a member of a state government. The way money flows from taxpayers to the federal government and back to the states is a ridiculous system but that’s the way it works right now and how else is the state going to get that money back into more localized hands? I suppose a state could be a conscientious objector and take no federal funds but I doubt that would work very well. |

McQ asks Nuclear when was the last time Palin stuffed an earmark in a budget bill. Nuclear retorts for his position using the fact that Sarah Palin requested 31 earmarks for over $197 million. McQ then answers with the fact that Palin had no power to stuff a bill.
That’s weak. Just because she couldn’t stuff a bill, doesn’t mean she didn’t want the stuffing or would actually do the stuffing if she could.
Again, she requested the earmarks and then claims to be anti-earmark. That doesn’t wash.
Nuclear is right, she does have some explaining to do. Like being for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it. |
