His number one priority is protecting America... by surrendering in Iraq and disarming????
And help me if I’m wrong, but haven’t our ICBM’s been off "hair trigger alert" for years? |

And he’s all for the troops and probably raised holy h3ll about body armor and uparmoring Humvees, but is promising to "slow spending on future combat systems".
The troops will appreciate that I’m sure. |

Well he is lucky we have won the war and Saddam is not in power anymore, otherwise he might have had to spend billions of dollars enforcing the no fly zones, naval blockades, and maintaining that military base in Saudi Arabia. Or he could have just negotiated with Saddam to end the conflict, demilitarize the world and achieve peace in our time. |

I have zero faith in Obama’s understanding of our nuclear forces and the policies needed for the deterrent effect to work correctly. The last thing we need right now is a president who is seen by aggressor nations and groups as weak-kneed. His hope for a world without nuclear weapons is naive at best, and has the potential to cause great harm. |

Slightly off the topic: Here’s a WP report on some of the tactics used in the surge in Iraq.
Richard Fernandez contextualizes at Belmont Club.
This is what Obama would have had us quit on, give up on, instead of seeing it through, not just for the sake of Iraq and our own national security, but for the future of warfare itself. |

its mccain that isnt talking about making the cuts... That’s correct and there’s a good reason for that - you may not have noticed, but we’re at war.
Can’t defend what Obama wants to do so you try this tired line, eh slntax? Not the most impressive thing I’ve seen you pen.

The term ’Hair trigger’ is meaningless in the ICBM context. The term refers to firearms with a very light trigger action thus minimizing the squeezing effort required to fire the weapon. The term is often used as sensationalist rhetoric to suggest that an ICBM could be launched by accident or with only very minimal authorization or controls. None of the USAs ICBMs are in any such state and nor are any other nuclear weapons around the world. (Hopefully) |

Then again, knowing wouldn’t change my vote. |

McCain seems to be in the thrall of the "fighter mafia" types, much like Cheney in fact. McCain opposed wasteful and corrupt military spending, because it takes away from necessary and useful military spending, whereas Obama opposes any military spending, because it takes away from social programs and other progressive vote-buying and government-expanding schemes. Frankly, the original tanker lease deal with Boeing needed to be killed: it was both wasteful (more money to lease than buy!!?) and corrupt (contract evaluator left to work for Boeing after the selection). So I can’t exactly look at that as McCain being weak on the military. But please, try again.

I hate to say this, but the more I hear of this clown who is so unqualified to be President, I do believe that he would promise to surrender to Osama bin Laden himself if that will win him the presidency.
There is not a thing he will not say, there is not a promise he will not make, there is not a liberal group he will not kowtow to, there is not an American value he will sell down the river to win this election.
Obama scares the sh!t out of me. He makes Kerry and Gore look like statesmen, and they were nutjobs too.

That was my impression, also. We must be wrong, however, since Obama has all that defense experience that we and Palin lack. |
