So who is computer illiterate here?
Posted by: McQ on Friday, September 12, 2008

I guess this falls under the category of "know thy opponent before mocking him". Well actually it falls under two categories, the second being "google is your friend":
John McCain is mocked as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate in a television commercial out Friday from Barack Obama as the Democrat begins his sharpest barrage yet on McCain's long Washington career.

The new fighting spirit comes as McCain has been gaining in the polls and some Democrats have been expressing concern the Obama campaign has not been aggressive enough.
And just to ensure the mocking isn't missed and to make sure you understand how out of date McCain is - at least according to the Obama campaign - they added a statement from the campaign to the mix:
"Our economy wouldn't survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats," [Obama spokesman Dan] Pfeiffer said. "It's extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn't know how to send an e-mail."
Jonah Goldberg, however, find that characterization to be just a tad bit wrong. One assumes that if the Obama campaign had just googled a bit they'd have known better than to stoop as low as they did in the ad.

Heck the info has been out there since 2000. This Boston Globe story for instance:
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
Or Slate from the same year:
"Six months ago, no one would have pegged McCain as the most cybersavvy of this year's crop of candidates. At 63, he is the oldest of the bunch and because of his war injuries, he is limited in his ability to wield a keyboard."
And email? Well it seems he does quite well with it, thankyouverymuch:
In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate's savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. "She's a whiz on the keyboard, and I'm so laborious," McCain admits.
First attempt at the new "fighting spirit" and the gang who can't shoot straight blows their left foot off. Can't say that it comes as a huge surprise. I mean if you can't even run a google search before committing a bunch of malarky to an ad, you have to ask, in this case, who the real computer illiterate is, don't you?

So, what’s the spin from the Obama campaign gonna be for this - their latest act of stupidity? Even better question - how will they ’top’ themselves for next time?

So Obama is making fun of old people now?

Heh....

Because all those new, young voters are so passionate and committed, but always forget to show up on polling day, while the oldsters always manage to make the trip.

Buh-bye Barry

A strawman made of cornsilk, insipid sarcasm, and only one spelling mistake? You must have failed troll school.

Biden is a very weak choice & Sarah got into Obama’s melon with that remark about his regretting not having asked HRC onto the ticket. He is very thin-skinned [as his repeated mentions of Hannity reveal] and if she bugs him enuf, he may start to implode by attacking her some more instead of using nasty surrogates [which itself is beginning to boost McCain/Palin’s polls].

If John-boy keeps young Sarah at his side in Sept & early Oct, she will get those big crowds that make the old dude look young & keeps him feeling like a spring chicken. He deserves it for taking crap on not using e-mail when his arms prevent him from using a keyboard—-torture does cause horrible arthritic aftermaths.

Not that a callow fruitcake like Obama [who skipped his own mother’s deathbed because of "scheduling conflicts"] deserves any special treatment. He throws people under the bus with alarming regularity & it would be poetic justice to see him end up under bus tires himself for his insensitive e-mail attacks.

Let’s compare McCain and Obama experience relative to technology.

Obama went to Occidental and Columbia graduating with a technology free BA in political Science.

McCain was commissioned an Ensign at the US Naval Academy with a BS in engineering. McCain’s first assignment was flight school at Pensacola. At the completion of his training, he held a full instrument pilot rating in multi-engine jet centerline thrust. His first aircraft was an A-1 Skyraider, a single engine prop plane used for close air support and search and rescue missions. Later, he moved to the A4 Skyhawk, a small, highly capable single-engine, single-seat attack jet with state of the art avionics including navigation and bombing computers.

Clearly, McCain is better equipped to deal with technology.

If The Annointed One (inadvertently, I hope) makes fun of McCain for being too crippled to use a keyboard and nobody hears about it, what difference does it make?

In other words, what will most people know coming out of all this?

1. That John McCain doesn’t know how to use a computer, or;

2. That Obama is cruel enough to poke fun at a disable veteran AND stupid enough not to know better?

Raw intelligence is overrated for leadership positions. More important is wisdom and courage.

Both McCain and Palin beat Obama by a far margin when it comes to wisdom and courage. And they are at least as smart.

You just have to watch him when he’s working the ugly side of his smaller crowds. I wouldn’t call it subtle. Maybe subliminal is the right word, but it’s not that subliminal. It’s pretty right there in your face. "Nasty" is the word now.

What would the word be after a few months on presidential steroids?

Even if no explanation involving disability had been forthcoming — or rather, available all along — any ad alleging McCain couldn’t do email would simply have begged the question:

So, can Obama fly a jet fighter?

Stupid stupid stupid. Next time Team Obama gits ready to haul off and make another’n them campaign ads, I’m gonna see if they need me to hold their beer for ’um.

That, and the collapse of any sort of campaign strategy. "The internal polls are telling us that the under 30 demographic is losing enthusiasm for Barack; it’s time to play the email card!"

Maybe the Clinton sleepers inside the Obama campaign are having their way.

Tech Savvy?

John McCain has landed a jet on an aircraft carrier...at sea. What has D’Oh!bama done that even remotely approximates that?

McCain/Palin are SO inside D’Oh!bama’s head right now, and have anyone heard from Joe Biden lately?
