Sarah Palin is hitting the road to campaign on her own.

The Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee said farewell—for—now to friendly crowds in her home state Saturday before beginning to campaign without running mate John McCain.

She told a cheering crowd of more than 2,000 people that she will be back home in November—and would like to bring the Arizona senator with her.

Palin spent the past few days in her hometown of Wasilla, sheltered from the public and the media, except for three public speeches.

Well yeah, those and that ABC interview with Charlie Gibson.

It was all over the TV and in all the papers.
