Well at least there weren’t any snipers

Brave Joe Biden knows where bin Laden and the "gates of hell" are. If you want to know, you need to go back to Afghanistan with him where his "helicopter was forced down":
"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me," Biden said. "Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."
Of course this is all about implications, isn't it? Afganistan, war zone, mention of bin Laden, language like "forced down" and, of course further reinforced by the claim "I can tell you where they are".

Sen. Biden's helicopter was "forced down" by a snow storm.

One has to believe that, given the situation, at least the "gates of hell" have frozen over. Even John Kerry joked about it:
Kerry joked, "We were going to send Biden out to fight the Taliban with snowballs, but we didn't have to do it...Other than getting a little cold, it was fine."
Mark Steyn quips:
In fairness, in the weeks after 9/11, many experts cowered in terror before the soi-disant "brutal Afghan winter". But I believe Senator Biden is the first to assert it's under the direct control of Osama bin Laden.
Biden has used this on more than one occasion while also talking about the "terrorist superhighway between Pakistan and Afghanistan".

Expect to hear that term (and probably the anecdote) in the VP debate.

Drudge report is suggesting a bit on tension between Obama and Biden. Surprise, surprise.

Between, McCain, Obama, Biden, and Palin, have we EVER had 4 less qualified and less desirable major candidates for President/VP? What a sorry state of affairs. Every day it’s a race to the bottom. I’m not sure I can stomach a vote this time around.

How bad has it gotten when even a stiff like Kerry is scoring points off of you? Sheesh.

Do you suppose he’ll mention Franklin Roosevelt getting on the TV when the Stock Market crashed in ’29 again during the debate?

Looker: FDR actually went on the radio. "My friends, I’m standing here. . . ."

(Think about it.)

Franklin wasn’t to have the opportunity to sit as President and say he was standing as President for another 4 years.

This to me is what makes Biden’s gaffe so glaring - the technology ignorance I could actually forgive...altough I have to wonder what programs Biden watched on television back there as a toddler in the mid to late 40’s so as I think about it right here, right now, I’m starting not to be willing to excuse that either.
I don’t want to hear how ubiquitous the TV is - I grew up when there weren’t desk top calculaters let alone hand helds, and I don’t think I’m likely to forget that (as but one small example of a tech change).

But the Hoover/Roosevelt thing...They worry about McCains PC ’illiteracy’. I’d wager he at least knows Franklin D Roosevelt wasn’t President of the United States in 1929.
