If you want to know, you need to go back to Afghanistan with him where his "helicopter was forced down": "If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me," Biden said. "Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."Of course this is all about implications, isn't it? Afganistan, war zone, mention of bin Laden, language like "forced down" and, of course further reinforced by the claim "I can tell you where they are". Sen. Biden's helicopter was "forced down" by a snow storm. One has to believe that, given the situation, at least the "gates of hell" have frozen over. Even John Kerry joked about it: Kerry joked, "We were going to send Biden out to fight the Taliban with snowballs, but we didn't have to do it...Other than getting a little cold, it was fine."Mark Steyn quips: In fairness, in the weeks after 9/11, many experts cowered in terror before the soi-disant "brutal Afghan winter". But I believe Senator Biden is the first to assert it's under the direct control of Osama bin Laden.Biden has used this on more than one occasion while also talking about the "terrorist superhighway between Pakistan and Afghanistan". Expect to hear that term (and probably the anecdote) in the VP debate. |
