The difference between the MSM’s treatment of Biden and Palin speaks volumes about their bias.
We ALL make "gaffes" now and then. I’d wager that Biden makes more than the average person simply because he talks more than the average person (and probably more than the average member of Congress, and THAT’S saying something). When the cameras are on you so much, it’s impossible NOT to make the occasional misstatement.
The problem is, as McQ points out, that a gaffe by Biden is brushed off by the MSM, while a gaffe by Palin - even a manufactured gaffe - is unassailable evidence of her unreadiness / ignorance / stupidity. It is so in most cases involving Republicans and (spit) democrats. As Ann Coulter has written, democrat candidates are assumed to be geniuses while Republican candidates with very similar academic records are assumed to be morons. Witness Bush v. Algore or Jean-Francois. In terms of academic achievements, Bush and Jean-Francois are quite similar; both eclipse Algore. Yet, which two of the three are treated as geniuses while the third is treated like a low-grade moron by the press? |
