Those classy Democrats
Posted by: McQ on Thursday, September 25, 2008

With "Cold Cash" Jefferson and "Simple Man" Rangel, this shouldn't come as a great surprise:
“If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention,” Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida said at a panel about the shared agenda of Jewish and African-American Democrats Wednesday. Hastings, who is African-American, was explaining what he intended to tell his Jewish constituents about the presidential race. “Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through,” Hastings added as the room erupted in laughter and applause.
Hastings, who is black, deploys not only the race card, but throws a little alleged antisemitism in as well. I'm sure he was just joking [/sarcasm]. For those of you who've forgotten he's a former judge with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida (1979 to 1989). He was impeached and removed from office for corruption and perjury. He is only the sixth federal judge to be impeached and removed from office in American history. So you have to consider the source.

On the more humorous side, Rep. Steven Cohen of Tennessee continues to push the "Jesus was a community organizer" line to head shakes everywhere. His latest attempt:
“A lot of what Jesus talks about is wonderful,” Cohen said. “Talks about helping people and lifting them up and caring about people who are sick and all those things. He’s a great Democrat.”
Well yeah, Mr. Cohen, except Jesus never once talked about doing any of that through government. Not once. Not ever.

Nice to see that race baiting and moonbattery are still alive and well in the Democratic party.

Exactly. Lifting people up, helping people, and caring for the sick and elderly was the job of the church not the state. The job of the state (as per Romans 13) was judging the evil-doer and punishing the wicked.

"He’s a great Democrat.”

Of course, who cares about THIS:

“Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s”

Waiting for the MSM to call Hastings and Cohen on these statements.

Does this mean Cohen is going to resign, give away all his earthly possessions, and walk the earth like Kane in "Kung Fu?"

Considering that Jesus appears to have been a pacifist—or something pretty close to one—the Chriostian Left seems oddly in love with coercion and power.

I wonder, though, what the difference in job roles is, between Obama in his "Community orginizer" days, and Al Sharpton, or perhaps Jesse Jackson.

I suspect most of the American people would be quite willing to accept the roles as realtive equals.

I would think that anyone concerned with antisemitism would vote against Obama. All that Rev. Wright stuff and all . . .

You know I don’t think that the comparison to Jesus would play if Catholics were as militant about comparing someone to their God as muslims are... the comparison to Mo is pretty accurate from the standpoint of a Catholic. But someone should clue them in that those of use who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ don’t go around comparing political hacks to him anymore than those in the Muslim world appreciate comparisons to their ’prophet’ - and although we aren’t planning to behead anyone or have any riots he isn’t helping the perception of his candidate.
