Sorry, I can never call in, because I always am putting my daughter to bed, and with an 8:30 bedtime it kind of screws the pooch, call-in wise.

Please keep it coming, even if I can’t tell the difference between Michael’s voice and McQ’s.

I can sympathize as that’s when my kids go to bed as well.

Heh. I have that problem too sometimes when I listen to the podcast. The easiest way to tell is that McQ is typically the one making sense.

Federal Judge Orders Obama to Produce Birth Certificate

No such thing has happened yet. The link you provided was to the plaintiff’s opposition brief (to Obama’s motion to dismiss) and the proposed order as drafted by the plaintiff. That was filed on September 29th, and there will need to be a hearing on Obama’s motion before any ruling. IWO, the judge hasn’t had the opportunity to rule yet.

Even if the plaintiff wins on the motion (i.e. his case is allowed to go forward) it is highly unlikely that the proposed order will be anything like what he’s asked for. Whether or not the birth certificate gets produced will depend on at least one or two more rulings. Whatever the outcome of Obama’s motion to dismiss, don’t count on the full birth certificate seeing the light of day any time soon.

Good, timely talk. As for Reagan’s courage in enduring the 1981-82 recession, a lot more could have been said. In academia we call it ’Volcker’s Recession,’ and both men deserve unabashed admiration for their integrity and strength of character in guiding the country through the extremely unpopular things that had to be done in order to bring some rationality back to our markets.

The current ’crisis’ is small potatoes compared to the bottom of 1982 (in August), where we reached exactly the point of the inflation-adjusted lows of the 1929 crash. The Left was after Reagan’s scalp, the media had tar and feathers ready to go; even the conservatives worried about the "voodoo economics" (Bush I’s notorious characterization) of supply-side and Art Laffer’s cocktail napkin theory.

We’ll get through this, ’we’ being capitalism. But you’re all correct; whoever is elected President next month will join Mr. Bush II in finding where the bottom of his political base is. Look for a one-term, which REALLY puts Hilary and Sarah into play!
