Will someone ask these idiots where they’ll get the money?
Posted by: McQ on Sunday, October 12, 2008

Just once, would someone in the MSM ask where this is coming from?
The United States needs a new economic stimulus plan that pumps billions of dollars into infrastructure projects and budget relief for cash-strapped state and local governments, Democratic lawmakers said on Sunday.

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, told ABC television he will put together an economic stimulus bill when Congress returns to Washington after the November 4 elections, while a key Republican said he would support an effort that "makes sense."

Rep. Roy Blunt, the Missouri Republican who serves as House minority leader, said he would support a stimulus plan if it did not include massive public works spending and budget bailouts for states that overspent on health care and other social programs.

"A stimulus plan that makes sense is something that I'll be helpful with," Blunt said, also on ABC television.
Here's a better idea - ask them which government programs they're going to cut to get the money, and when you do, remind Pelosi of her PAYGO promise.

Yeah, that'll happen.

Why the new fees that will be levied on everyone making more than $35k a year or so.

Why should they ask where the money will come from?

They all know the answer, but it is inconvenient, so it is glossed over.

I think we should spend a lot of money on infrastructure, but it should be money taken from welfare, federal education dollars, the NEA, Legal Services, Ag subsidies, block grants, ethanol, etc.

In other words we could be spending our federal dollars a whole lot better, somehow I don’t think that the lefties would like that.

If we must do some state planning, let’s do nuclear power plants to run all of those Volts we will be buying. Seriously, at least there’s some national security aspect to it, we get cheap electricity, and construction/engineering jobs that cannot go to India.

What is the central lesson we learn from the bailout?

The federal government has, for all practical purposes, unlimited money.

It’s like a kid with his father’s credit card.

Like Ted Kennedy, I didn’t vote for him.

Good old Massachusetts, count on them in a pinch to pinch everyone else.

No, the lesson is that where the rest of us find out that we’ve run out of money in small ways, the Fed finds out that it has run out of money by crashing the world economy.

Then spending more.

I gotta agree with retired military on this one - I just returned a rental car to Logan airport (Boston). I was expecting a bill of about $120, and got one for $165. My rental and taxes came out to just under $130 which is just fine with me. Then they added on $35 for miscellaneous fees. Convention Center Fee - $12.00, Visitor fee - $10.00, Concession recovery fee, etc., etc., etc.

I landed in Boston on Thursday at 11:00 AM and was in Maine by 2:00. And they still stuck me for $35 bucks. Is my math right? Is that not an additional 22 percent tax on my activities?

Oh they’ll find a way to get the money and not cal it a tax. I’m sure of that.
