Yes friends, it is time for another chapter in "How the Bureaucracy Copes". Today we'll visit the UK's National Health Service and see how the NHS is coping:

An NHS trust has spent more than £12,000 on private treatment for hospital staff because its own waiting times are too long.

Heh ...

And the line of the day?

"Staff must meet very precise criteria to receive the service, which offers good value for money as it helps them get back to work quickly so they can continue to provide high quality care to our patients, avoiding the need to draft in expensive locum care."

Yeah, that wouldn't be important to anyone else. What were we thinking of?

There is a simple way to end stupid laws. Make the government live by the same rules, laws, that they impose on the public. If the NHS is good enough for the British public, it ought to be good enough for the NHS.
