ACORN - Registration totals "wild exaggeration"
Posted by: McQ on Friday, October 24, 2008

ACORN claimed to have registered 1.3 million new voters. But in reality, it appears the number is much lower:
On Oct. 6, the community organizing group Acorn and an affiliated charity called Project Vote announced with jubilation that they had registered 1.3 million new voters. But it turns out the claim was a wild exaggeration, and the real number of newly registered voters nationwide is closer to 450,000, Project Vote’s executive director, Michael Slater, said in an interview.
And in the "common sense" excuse making department, this takes the cake:

“Everybody knows that when 1.3 million applications are submitted, not every single one of them gets on the rolls,” said Brian Kettenring, a spokesman for Acorn. “That’s common sense.”

Not every single one? How about 2 out of 3 being other than a "new" voter and 400,000 being rejected for one reason or another, it speaks of an organization which has no quality control, poor management and very minimal standards. And, of course, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, along with other Democratic friends on the Hill find this a worthy organization in which to pour millions of dollars of your tax dollars.

And in a nation where a margin of votes in the hundreds in one swing state decided the 2000 election, and a margin in the 20,000 range decided another crucial swing state in 2004.....hey, 450,000 applied in the right areas is more than enough
