Kerry as Secretary of State?
Posted by: McQ on Saturday, October 25, 2008

Frankly that possibility should just terrify you. But reading through an article today in the Boston Herald about how Kerry wants a "New Deal II", I came across this paragraph:
But asked to respond to Kerry’s economic remarks, Beatty’s camp made references to a famous anti-Kerry crack by former state Senate President William Bulger and to rumors Kerry might be in line to become secretary of state if Barack Obama wins the presidential race.

“The only thing we know about John Kerry’s ‘plans’ is that printed on the bottom line is JFK - Just for Kerry. We just wonder how he’s going to get all this done from inside the Secretary of State’s suite in Foggy Bottom,” the Beatty camp’s statement read.
Can you even begin to imagine Kerry as Secretary of State with Joe Biden as VP and those two making up the foreign policy brain trust for Obama?

And to the point about the "New Deal II", it's precisely what Democrats intend. In an environment in which government was one of the key reasons for the problem, it is now going to ride to the rescue. From the same article:
“I am for a stimulus package. I am not for a stimulus package that just sends out checks,” said Kerry at a Boston Herald editorial meeting yesterday.

Instead, Kerry said the nation needs to spend more in areas that will both help the economy in the short run and long run - such as on roads and bridges, clean energy initiatives and life sciences.
Or said another way, he's for taking huge sums of money, establishing more government bureaucracies to face "problems" government helped create and do all of that for the "long run".

The era of big government has never died. Instead, it appears it is about to get a booster shot.

As you say "the mask has slipped"

Actually, the mask hasn’t slipped at this point, they’ve thrown the mask away and they’re being very open about it.

America can’t say they weren’t warned.

Or that they don’t deserve the hard times they’re signing up for

Perfect. I love the Democrats. They over reach so quickly and so audaciously. John Kerry would make a perfect Secretary of State for Obama....wandering around the world bloviating about the need for U.S. military involvement in areas of the world that have no strategic value to us. My advice to President Obama: Throw the mask away...bring on your best and brightest...fly to the sun.

Because the sooner he does, the sooner the Republicans will remember their core values and come storming back to power ala Newt Gringrich.

Wheee! The circus is in town!

"Kerry said the nation needs to spend more in areas that will both help the economy in the short run and long run - such as on roads and bridges,"

Oh, yeah. If a ’Big Dig’ is good enough for Boston, it’s good enough for every other city. Or as some cynics might say, ’If we had to go through that sh**, everyone else should, too’.

All they need to do is get Gore in there Somewhere to complete the anti-Bush triumvirate.

I don’t say that facetiously. I would not be surprised if this is not the reflection of "putting Right all the wrongs associated with George Bush" as basically a cornerstone of Obama’s policies, Especially his foreign policy.

They are going to use Blame Bush for the next 4 years, and beyond if they can make it there.

Daschle is sure to get a cabinet post (he helped plan the Obama campaign, I believe in part to keep the Democratic party from being Clinton dominated). I’ve heard talk of Daschle as Secretary of State too. He would be good in the role — tough as nails, but talks gently.

Jesusss!

Wow, witness the damage to brain tissue that drinking the Obama coolaid gets you.

Daschle is a world class lightweight and sleazeball.

But hey, it will be hilarious to watch the keystone Obama cabinet in action. Every one will be as sharp as Biden. Yep. popcorn time.

Another case of Kerry be for something, and against it. You can’t make stuff like this up...

That is because we do not know how to spend it correctly. Only politicians, aided by public spirited advisers from the private sector (aka lobbyists), can target these federal dollars to where they will provide the correct stimulus to evoke the correct response (increased campaign contributions & good jobs for good wages for political hacks).
