Ohio, we have a problem ...
Posted by: McQ on Monday, November 03, 2008

The Ohio Coal Association is not at all happy with Barack Obama:
"Regardless of the timing or method of the release of these remarks, the message from the Democratic candidate for President could not be clearer: the Obama-Biden ticket spells disaster for America's coal industry and the tens of thousands of Americans who work in it.

"These undisputed, audio-taped remarks, which include comments from Senator Obama like 'I haven't been some coal booster' and 'if they want to build [coal plants], they can, but it will bankrupt them' are extraordinarily misguided.

"It's evident that this campaign has been pandering in states like Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana and Pennsylvania to attempt to generate votes from coal supporters, while keeping his true agenda hidden from the state's voters.

"Senator Obama has revealed himself to be nothing more than a short- sighted, inexperienced politician willing to say anything to get a vote. But today, the nation's coal industry and those who support it have a better understanding of his true mission, to 'bankrupt' our industry, put tens of thousands out of work and cause unprecedented increases in electricity prices.

"In addition to providing an affordable, reliable source of low-cost electricity, domestic coal holds the key to our nation's long-term energy security - a goal that cannot be overlooked during this time of international instability and economic uncertainty.

"Few policy areas are more important to our economic future than energy issues. As voters head to the polls tomorrow, it is essential they remember that access to reliable, affordable, domestic energy supplies is essential to economic growth and stability."
Hello? Pennsylvania? Virginia?

Are Obama's words something those who are employed in the industry there are willing to live with?

If so, don't whine when what is promised comes to fruition.

Not to worry, I'm sure there will be a nice government transition program there for you to participate in. And who knows, maybe it will be training for a "green collar job" - as soon as they figure out how to make vaporware into something viable.

I think his comments about creating civilian national security force equal to our current military are more disturbing than anything else he has said thus far. Think about it. what is the quickest way to ensure America never wages another war on foreign soil? you build an equally strong force who is by law not permitted to participate in any foreign conflict. you can be certain they will be garaunteed all the same benefits, pay, and retirement that our current military enjoys but with one small never have to worry about being deployed overseas or fight in a foreign country.

now tell me who would that leave to join the regular military?

After forming the Obama Youth Organization, he would need to build large resorts in the country to house the large numbers of persons who have shown themselves racially insensitive or resistant to the new way of doing things. Since people who go to such resorts often die early deaths, it might be wise to build crematoria with high throughput capacities nearby. What’s that bitter almond smell? Don’t worry about it. You’ve been working hard. Hit the showers.
