The Paglia article is great. The Pag Hag at her maverick best. I remember the front-page, post-explosion photo of Dustin Hoffman she mentions. He looked semi-shell-shocked, as if he had just escaped from the Nazi dentist in MARATHON MAN. |

I netflixed that documentary last week and, like Paglia, I’d say watch out for Dorhn. She’s a lot scarier than Ayers. The whole bunch is scarier than Ayers except for the three that splattered Hoffman. |

Of course 1960s terrorism is irrelevant to most of the voting public today, and labeling people "socialist" when the US "capitalist" system is collapsing doesn’t sting either. The problem with the right is that they don’t realize that the standard attacks on the left are obsolete, 20th century attacks that are now yawned at. And, of course, since Obama and Ayres were working on education projects through a fund sponsored by a Conservative Republican, trying to tie Obama to what Ayres did half a century earlier was just silly. The more conservatives believe stuff like Rev. Wright, Ayres, or calling Obama the "redistributor" can possibly stick, the more they show that they haven’t recognized that this is not the country it was 20 years ago, and that kind of politics won’t work any more. The times HAVE changed!

Anyway, you dense righties need to remember that no one cares about anything a Democrat does that’s wrong unless it involves sex, and maybe not even then. Terrorist associates? Marxist preachers? No one cares, because our colleagues in the media make it one of their first priorities to ensure that the public never gets the whole story, and then they further ensure that anyone else who tries to raise the point is branded as an extremist and made to suffer more than the terrorist or Marxist preacher, who are more likely to get a glowing whitewash in the New York Times.
But of course, if a Republican’s spouse’s cousin’s dentist is a member of a fringe political party, or maybe even just got too many traffic tickets, then that’s perfectly fair game for our colleagues in the media to trumpet to the world. After all, they’re Republicans. By the holy principles of post-modernism, they’re wrong just by existing.
