Happy Thanksgiving
Posted by: McQ on Thursday, November 27, 2008

What a fabulous Thanksgiving day I just had. Before I nod off in a tryptophan induced coma, a word of thanks -

- To the good readers of QandO for, well, reading what we have to say. Yeah, it's a vanity project, but you know what, you guys make it worth it.

- To the men and women of the Armed Forces. Just thanks.

- For the fact, at least up until now (and I'm not suggesting it will change, I just can't foretell the future) I live in a place where I can speak my mind without fear of repercussion - well, other than the tireless trolls who add so much to the fun we have around here.

- For the great family I've been blessed with. I'll tell you, an old guy like me spending the day with four active young boys will definitely remind you why someone my age should be glad they're a grandparent and not a parent. I listened to the oldest do an impromptu violin recital, wrestled half the day with the middle two and the youngest taped my fingers up with blue painters tape and called them the "blue fingers of doom". Hey, he's 4. I fried turkeys (don't knock it till you've tried it), and my son, who's a chef, fixed everything else. Yup, it was awesome.

I certainly hope this next year brings us better fortune than has this one - for everyone. Regardless, QandO will be here with all of us giving our opinions about how the world is turning. It's sort of what we do.

Enjoy the rest of the day and hug your family and let them know how much you love 'em. That's what you should do.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Deep fried turkey is proof that not only does God exist, but that he loves us...

You’re welcome, and thank you.

I was thrown out of FreeRepublic after one post, so I so appreciate that although that my opinions may not jibe with the majority around here, at least they’re allowed. And how unintersting that would be if everybody agreed with everything.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I don’t consider you a troll, Cap. You are the loyal opposition, mostly because you provide arguments, not a series of talking points - picked up from elsewhere and regurgitated here - or uniformed insults that immediately underscore the fact that you’re not a reader of the blog.

Other than you (and Pogue), the rest are mostly trolls, but more than welcome here - if for nothing else but comic relief. We’ve only banned a few of them and that’s primarily because they crossed the line when it came to abusive rhetoric or, in the case of a couple, actually made threats.

And a Happy thanksgiving to you McQ, and to all the commentors here at QandO - troll included.

And Cap, I agree with McQ - you and Pogue represent what a true "Loyal Opposition" should be - thoughtful in your comments and respectful in your demeanor.
