It’ll stuff sawdust up your muzzle faster than anything on the planet.

Pretty handy.

If you like extreme guns and you’re heterosexual, you have GOT to see THIS!

What it lacks in chainsaws, it more than makes up in weapons of mass destruction and distraction.

Well the concept beats the crap out of a traditional bayonet... you would want the chain to run out on the top to send material away - however, this could result in a pull* when you catch on something. Weight would also be an issue - but by reducing the size and tightening the radius you could probably reduce both weight and the pull issue when you start cutting.

* by pull I’m refering to the tendency of a the force of the chain and the cutting heads tending to transfer to the weapon holder when the cutting isn’t 100% efficient (it never is) resulting in a tendency to drag the holder toward the target being cut - not really a good thing... also not too bad as long as the force is limited.

Actually thinking more about the design - you could shift from the traditional bottom mount of a bayonet to a side mount with a top blade screen so that the saw could run in the traditional direction without throwing crap in your barrel and still allowing you to sight from the top. The drive engine would mount below but the chain itself would run more parallel extending past the front of the barrel...

you’d have to make and test at least 3 or 4 different designs...

Why not have a smaller version of a vibrating blade (like used to remove casts) only sharper and shaped like a traditional bayonet (only a little bigger) that way it doesn’t kick a metric ton of sawdust (or gore and bone chips) into the workings of the gun?

lol That’s from a video game called Gears of War. There’s something greatly satisfying about a chainsaw and a rifle married in bliss.

Well I thought I was going to be the first one to point out this was from Gears of War. Then again that is just a modern version of a slingshot with a knife attached.

Only if you use it on wood. Not sure about zombies, though.
