Unless she plans on coming up with some way to cancel the 2010 election, this seems to be a dubious move. The Democrats own the economy now, and should the voters decide the borrow and spend crowd don’t have the answer, the Democrats could be the minority party again. I would welcome the opportunity to see the Republicans continue Ms Pelosi’s rule change. |

What I find absurd is the notion that the the House GOP has any desire to work with the Democrats and the incoming administration. Dear Mr. Cole,
It doesn’t matter if they intend to work with the Dems or not. Intent to follow along is not a requirement for serving in Congress.
Think long and hard: If you should lose majority control of Congress, will you be willing to live under the rules you wish to pass? |

I posted this in another thread at Balloon juice.com about the 180 in Pelosi’s position. Pelosi Seeks House Minority ’Bill of Rights’ Pelosi’s document, which she vows to honor if Democrats regain the majority, says: "Too often, incivility and the heavy hand of the majority" have silenced Democrats and choked off "thoughtful debate. I am guessing that is how J. Cole found the Human Events article. |

What I find absurd is the notion that the the House GOP has any desire to work with the Democrats and the incoming administration. I’m sure the incoming administration is itching to work with the GOP!
These rule changes don’t bother me. Neither does the idea of Senator Franken. Again, the main move the GOP needs to make for the next 2 years is to emphasize that THE DEMS ARE TOTALLY IN CHARGE
What happens next is all on them |

THE DEMS ARE TOTALLY IN CHARGE You are sooo right. That needs to be hammered into the heads of Americans every single day the dems rule the roost. And I mean EVERY day! |

I agree with the sentiment above.
The Dems are in charge lock stock and barrel. Whereas they will try to blame everything that goes wrong on Bush they own the entire enchalada. Heaven help us. |

I would recommend that the House Republicans leave one member behind to call for a "quorum call" while the remainder just leave town.
The sight of Speaker Pelosi moving for a "Call of the House" to direct the Sargent-at-Arms to return the missing members will rightly show that the next two years are the Democrats to mangle. |

What I find absurd is the notion that the the House GOP has any desire to work with the Democrats and the incoming administration. What I find absurd is the idea that minorities, any minority, ought to just shut up and go along with the majority (which would make them what? A silent minority? or part of the majority after all? gee......)
Apply that outside Congress and let’s see how it flies shall we? |

The real irony I found on Cole site was the notion of having "highly experienced justice department lawyers" .. "pushed out of their positions at Justice because their aggressive enforcement of federal laws didn’t match the new administration’s" progressive ideology when these lawyers replaced other lawyers "beginning in the early years of the Bush administration, were transferred, demoted or otherwise pushed out of their positions at Justice because their aggressive enforcement of federal laws didn’t match the new administration’s conservative ideology".
The irony is so thick that you can walk on it. |

I agree with Neo. The GOP members of Congress should take their cue from our liberal brethren, simply ask themselves "WWOD"? and vote "present" on every bill. Yes, it’s a bit childish, but SanFran Nan, Dingy Harry, and the rest of the democrat (spit) trash in the Congress have made it abundantly clear that they plan to walk all over the GOP (unless they need GOP votes to give an aura of "bipartisanship" to some especially odious bill). So, I say that they should be given all the authority... and ALL the responsibility. Let’s let the American people see what government by democrats (spit) REALLY means: higher taxes, more government control of our lives, economic misery, and international humiliation.
O’ course, a compliant media, ACORN, and election officials like Jennifer Brunner may well mean that it makes no difference at all what the American people think of the job that the democrats (spit) do as they will be in the majority from now until doomsday... which may not be that long in coming.
I can just see future elections. Mr. Orwell saw it years ago:Afterwards Squealer was sent round the farm to explain the new arrangement to the others [i.e. when open debate was eliminated at Animal Farm to be replaced by autocratic rule by Napoleon].
"Comrades," he said, "I trust that every animal here appreciates the sacrifice that Comrade Napoleon has made in taking this extra labour upon himself. Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure! On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility. No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?"
George Orwell Animal Farm For our liberal commenters, could you please lead us in a few verses of "Beast of England"? Or assure us that, "Obama is always right"? Perhaps you can simply bleat, sheeplike, "Democrat goood, George Bush baaad! Democrat goood, George Bush baaad!"? |

You’re in for a rough decade or two Not gonna happen Tommy. The only reason it will last two years is because you can’t possibly have that much turn over in a 2 year period.
Oh, and I gather you’re not very old if you think Democratic control of the Senate and House is something really new.
The old ones were smarter than Dippy Nan and Whiny Harry. I have to say, they understood putting a velvet glove on the iron fist rather better than the current lot of transparently ham-handed boobs you’ve put in charge now. |

TomD forgets that it’s Democrats—patriots that they are—who talk about deserting their country when an election doesn’t go their way, not Republicans. |
