What you’re missing is that with liberals it’s not what you actually do, it’s what you intend, and how you feel about it.

I guess that "post-partisan" means you tell ’em what they want to hear then do what is politically expedient and pragmatic.
The watch phrase here to remember .. he is "The One" which means Obama will do what Obama thinks is good for Obama. Obama is the "Change" and you’re left to "Hope" you like it. |

Funny how Obama is behaving as I said he would, contrary to the insistence of opponents here on this blog who maintained that Obama would initiate a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq.
The full-on-peace-at-any-cost crowd had no choice between McCain and Obama, but it never, ever, meant that Obama was going to govern based on the wishes of that crowd.Governing not so easy as campaigning I see I think he is doing a brilliant job, inasmuch as he is not even sworn in yet.
Did you see him have Lindsay Graham gush all over him today?

CaptinSarcastic - Did you see him have Lindsay Graham gush all over him today?
That’s just disgusting.
Anyway...
Let’s hope that TAO continues along this path. Yes, we can enjoy the ire that we suppose (hope) that such decisions cause among the loopy idiots who comprise his base, but the main thing is that he does what is right for the country. If he doesn’t pull the plug on Iraq, that’s a big step in the right direction. |

Funny how Obama is behaving as I said he would You predicted he’d try to appoint people who don’t pay their taxes, and take millions and millions from foreign groups, and Governors who are under investigation??

So to steal a question someone asked on another thread......so you’re ok with the fact that Obama lied during the campaign? |

I think he is doing a brilliant job, inasmuch as he is not even sworn in yet. Lets see....his chief of staff is under a cloud, he’s already been deposed in a corrpution scandal, he had to throw his commerce secy nominee under the bus, his Secy of State nominee has obvious conflicts of interest, and his treasury secy. nominee "forgot" to pay his taxes. Oh, and he’s refused to comment on Israel/Gaza (and don’t tell me "one Pres. at a time crap, he’s planty happy to act as Pres. on other issues...)
Nice to see you set the bar so low.

I expect Obama to do a lot of things that anger the Left. There was never any reason to believe otherwise. Remember the FISA vote?
Obama has a lot of support from the middle, let alone the Obamanaughts that really have no affinity for the Left or the Democratic Party, they just like Obama. But what will continue to consolidate support for Obama from the Left is the hatred for Obama from the Right. If Hannity, Coulter (those two dudes have great hair, btw), and others of their ilk continue to hammer away at Obama on a daily basis, you won’t see any abandonment from the Left.
If frustration from the Left is what dips your corn dog,So this is "change" I can live with. Then keep it up.
Cheers. |

I don’t know about you, Steverino, but I don’t believe everything a politician says. What was evident was that Obama appeared to be a shrewd politician doing and saying everything he could to rise in the ranks so quickly. Captin Sarcastic wasn’t the only one to predict that Obama would govern more pragmatically than what his campaign rhetoric suggested he would.
My prediction, if you thought Clinton was slick, Obama will be greased lightning. |

If a politician lies about his positions and policy plans, and it turns out he lied in my preferred direction, I guess I am pleasantly surprised and happy about it. (I’d give him the right to change his mind, but some of these changes are just too fast for benefit of the doubt.)
Its to be expected, too. I only hope that those who are left-leaning will give the same benefit of the doubt about right-wing candidates running on say, anti-abortion stands, to realize they too will not implement them or at best on the margins.
I think its really going to be people angry at the MSM when its all said and done. I can’t blame Obama, he’s just a player - but I can blame the system that allows this. |

I see Obama is also backing off on his pledge to get Osama....
Hey libs, you’re all so hot to GET OSAMA.
Now Obama says that doing what Bush did......good enough.
So as of now, I expect you to go off on him for this gross delelection of our security (or outright lie)

I don’t know about you, Steverino, but I don’t believe everything a politician says. Straw man and false dilemma. I don’t believe everything a politician says.
And I don’t share your thought that Obama is so shrewd.
By the way, if Obama is doing what Bush did, will the Left concede Bush was right? Will the Right think maybe Obama is doing the right thing? |

Didn’t The Clown™ also vote for the FBI wiretap law even after he denounced it? And he said he was for the right to own guns after he said he was against the right to own guns.
What people don’t understand is that The Clown™ is Clinton times 10. Clinton looked after Bill Clinton; fugg his party, his aides, his associates. his friends. He was out for number one. Whomever got tossed under the bus to make life better for Bill Clinton is expendable.
The Left better understand that with The Clown™, he will do the tossing far faster than Clinton did. Clinton was a good liar - The Clown™ is a terrible one. You can read it on his face. If this were a great economy, he could get away with it. In this atmosphere, he won’t be able to. People don’t want to hear about "honest mistakes" and "that’s not what we thought it was" or "Bill Richardson is still a good man" even as a federal grand jury is examining his back end, or that "none of my staff talked to Gov. Blagojevich" became "none of my staff talked inappropriately with Gov. Blagojevich."
The Clown’s™ honeymoon is over before it began. As his screw-ups pile up, his JARs will drop faster than Clinton’s pants in a brothel. No one wants to see a lying opportunist run this country again after eight years of Lying Billy the Sex Pervert. |

I think those like CS and Pogue congratulating themselves on their superior insight into Obama are little different from someone calling a coin toss correctly. Eventually the coin has to land and someone gets to be right.
Obama has been all over the map—and to some extent still is. Consider his picks of John Holdren (eco-apocalyptic associate of Paul Ehrlich) and Carol Browner ("[global warming] is the greatest challenge ever").

Here’s an excellent summary of PE Barack "I am a blank slate" Obama:Now We Find Out Which Obama Is Behind Door No. 2
Will President Obama be the moderate of the presidential campaign, the liberal of the primary campaign, or the radical of the past? Which Obama will assume the presidency when we open Door No. 2?
* The Obama who voted straight party line in the Senate, or the Obama who campaigned as being beyond partisanship; * The Obama who used class warfare to belittle and vilify the "richest 5%" in order to gain political advantage, or the Obama who wants to bring us all together; * The Obama who tolerated racial hate speech in his church and his choice of political friends, or the Obama who later distanced himself from these friends during the campaign; * The Obama who used the "race card" to suppress legitimate criticism of his record and policies, or the Obama who campaigned on a platform of being post-racial; * The Obama who views this country as fundamentally flawed, or the Obama who campaigned on a theme of love of country; * The Obama who for over a decade articulated a desire to nationalize health care through a single payer system, or the Obama who campaigned on preserving the private healthcare system; * The Obama who was comfortable around with most anti-Israel elements of our society, or the Obama who pledges to support Israel’s security; * The Obama whose campaign intimidated critics by threatening prosecution of political speech, or the Obama who supports free political debate; * The Obama whose campaign deliberately disabled standard security functions on its credit card fundraising system (so as to allow foreigners to contribute, and citizens to exceed legal limits), or the Obama who decries the role of money in politics; * The Obama who urged his supporters to "get in the face" of those who disagree, or the Obama who wants us all to get along; or * The Obama who wants to deprive workers of a secret ballot on union votes, or the Obama who supports the working class.
Or maybe we’ll get none of the above. At this point, nothing would be a surprise. —William A. Jacobson |

Jacobson wrote the above immediately after Obama won. It probably didn’t occur to Jackson then that Obama would switch around so fast to Bush’s positions on Iraq and Afghanistan. |
