Godwin’s law and the left
Posted by: McQ on Thursday, February 03, 2005

Seems its an epidemic:
Actress and liberal talk-radio host Janeane Garofalo is taking issue with congressional Republicans who dipped their fingers in ink for President Bush's State of the Union speech as a sign of solidarity with Iraqi voters, likening it to a Nazi salute.

Garofalo actually made the salute last night as she provided post-speech commentary on MSNBC's "After Hours" program.

Maybe they don't get it yet, but this type of hyperbole, after viewers had just watched an Iraqi woman hug the mother of a slain Marine, just doesn't do their side any good.

It just makes them appear as squalling, whiny little brats.

Not that continually pointing this out to the left each time they do it again has done any good either.

She really shouldn't keep the thumb out like that...

The inked fingers and the position of them, which is gonna be a 'Daily Show' photo already, of them signaling in this manner [Nazi salute], as if they have solidarity with the Iraqis who braved physical threats against their lives to vote as if somehow these inked-fingered Republicans have something to do with that."

Well, the Democrats sure as hell didn't have anything to do with it. And if the Kerrys and Kennedys and Pelosis of the world had their way, there wouldn't have been ANY voting on Sunday.

So yeah, I'd say the Republicans had a helluva lot to do with it.

Wait, isnt she suppose to be eating glass or something since Bush won the election ??

I find it interesting that it's never a Republican you see making Heil Hitler salutes or referring to President Bush as "Dear Leader".

They appear as squalling, whiny little brats behave like squalling, whiny little brats.

Or perhaps ranting, spoileed adolescents who can't come to grips with their own irrelevance. If they can't be the center of attention for positive behavior they'll get there by pitching a fit.

Garofalo is truly revolting.

She knows NOTHING of what Nazism was and is;

She knows NOTHING of what this administration has accomplished in the last 3 years despite incredible odds;

She FAILS to realize how little the Democratic party has done in the name of freedom: Reagan helped free roughly 170 million, which then led to free elections in many nations. Bush has helped free 50 million with two elections nearly without a hitch. What have liberals and Dems done except for proving that they are a gang of malcontents who are constantly whining, complaining, bitching, and moaning?

Garofalo remains a childish fool who can only thrust non sequiturs into debates in a shallow attempt to get some attention. Hollywood's clique is nothing if not attention whores.

What the hell? That doesn't even make any sense. Cheerfully waving index fingers are like a Nazi salute? Is the Iraqi lady a Nazi too, or just a Nazi sympathizer?

Hey where's mk. She's his people.

Maybe he can explain the fascination that they have with the nazi's. It seems to me that they are the ones calling this person a nazi, that org the ss, casting nazi salutes and slogans at the drop of a hat.

The fact of the matter is that this brand of Lefty is simply shallow -- and they cannot help exposing it.

I know, I know, they'll claim that they're terribly nuanced, and the rest of us just don't get it.
But, we've actually studied and learned history....

For what it's worth, in this case, you're absolutely right.

It kind of made me long for the days when Chalabi showed up at the SOTU.

Remember Chalabi at the SOTU? Sittting right by Laura. Gazing fondly upon her Stepfordness. It was wonderful. He seemed so calm, so reassuring. He was my man and he was Bush's man. He dressed so well. So poised, so self assured. Take me back - if only for one moment.

Yes, MK ... last I heard, Chalabi was on his way to being elected, say it with me now, elected, to the Iraqi assembly.

Next time you see Janeane give her a nice "seig heil" for me, will you?

Chalabi is really Garofalo!!

Well, I asked you to explain her and you did. That explains a lot. Sort of a Jekyll and Hyde going on there, hmmm?

And even Ezra doesn't agree with you.

Oh yes - more Chalabi. How could those crazy Jordanians ever have convicted him of a crime? He just looks too good.

The true mark of a neo-libertarian blog is the extent to which it will go to bat for Chalabi.

"Squalling, whiny little brats."

Strikingly accurate description of Brent Bozell and MRC.

Going to bat for him? I simply noted an event.

Need to readjust the tin foil, MK. You're signals are getting garbled again.

This is about Garofalo and a Nazi salute. I even put a picture up there so you'd be sure to understand what its about.

Yes, he shouldn't use that cheap Walmart stuff, much too thin. Here is a good tech resource for him.

Pictures, he doesn't understand any stinkin' pictures. ;)

Hey -
If Garofalo can liken the elections to a NAZI thing, Mk can introduce Chalabi in a discussion on Garofalo - it all fits in a weird, lefty, moonbat, Orwellian kinda way.

As someone above pointed out, it's just to nuanced for us to understand.

How did this get to 20 comments without someone pointing out that it is "Godwin's Law"?

Actress, liberal radio host calls Republican gesture 'disgusting'

I guess I'm still missing it. Is "Goodwin" some SNL character reference I'm missing?

As the commercial says, it's all about the "O". :)

Godwin wrote an interesting article about "Godwin's Law". Apparently it was an experiment with memetics. I'd say it worked. Based on the article, I'd also say you applied it perfectly. Garofolo's commentary has definately reached the point where no more value can be expected.

Um... maybe you shouldn't bring up that second part.

"Our Leader" does not carry the same totalitarian overtones as "Dear Leader".

The fact that they both contain the word "leader" wholly misses the point.
