Uh huh ... reminds me of those NFL and MLB owners who say about their particular coach or manager, "he has the full backing and faith of the team and the ownership and anyone who says otherwise is simply wrong", right before they sack the poor schlub. No, no, no.
Right before he decides that he "needs to spend more time with the family." |

Please please please, get rid of this pathetic offering. I guess the only question is...
What the hell was the White House thinking? The Roberts thing went so well. Why mix it up like this? |

This is a slow-motion train wreck. I don’t know whether to laugh, cry, or throw up. |

If she does not go down swinging for the fence, Bush might as well let the dems make the next selection. |

Those Republican staffers made a big mistake leaking this. It’s going to have two effects. First, after the White House was forced to again deny that they’re considering dumping Miers, it’ll be even harder for them to do so. Second, they’re going to be far more reluctant to discuss the matter (or to discuss any other potential nominees) with anyone outside the White House. That’s not good. The individuals who leaked that conversation did serious harm to the anti-Miers cause. |

"If she does not go down swinging for the fence, Bush might as well let the dems make the next selection."
Or he could explore the support for some one who would likely (relatively) be an overt strict constructionist, like Edith Clement; or, he could nominate someone who would likely (if an activist judge at all) would be activist in a pro-liberty fashion, like Janice Brown.
Either way, he’d go far towards giving the part of the party which takes the Constitution seriously a reason to go to polls.

If Miers is withdrawn, who will she be replaced with. I mean Bush had a goal in mind in picking her. She was partly an easy sell to Democrats. What other reasons there are, I don’t know. The only thing I can think of is that her close loyalty to Bush may have been part of it.
If another nominee comes up, maybe we’ll get a better picture. |

I still think her failure was deliberate. Now Bush can say, "Hey, I tried!" and nominate Priscilla Owens. |

It’s probably safe to say that if Miers goes down, the next nominee will breath fire and brimstone. |

Yes, that’ll go down well... "Hey, I tried to do something stupid. But everyone stopped me." Brilliant!! |
