NRO says that DoJ denies the story...Personally I KNOW that Hastert IS guilty. This Particular maybe untrue in it’s particulars, BUT this sort of thing is going on EVERY DAY in DC, all in Jack Abramhoff’s name! We all are DANNY HASTERTS now!

Has ABC ever been in the news cycle. All i’ve ever saw from them indicates they are in the ’rumor’ cycle and have been there since the 60’s. I have to check 10 sources before i believe the first word of an ABC story, because 99% turn out to be stories, not news. |

Who knows what is true. Wasn’t Ross one of the journalists whose calls were being monitored by the government?
OTOH, the Department of Justice is a huge organization. So too the FBI. There are two possibllties here: (A) Ross has particular sources who know about a particular investigation; or (B) Reuters has sources that know about all investigations - and the absence of any and all investigations.
Choice A seems more likely. But who knows.
Delay is resinging due to his problems. Is it really so hard to believe that Hastert has similar problems? Cf. Nixon and Agnew.

There are other possiblities. C) This was another red-herring story (if we ever confirm the earlier ones were such) intended to flush out leakers - this time from the Justice Dept. D) intentionally falsely spread to add another "fact" to the reality-based faction. "Hastert is being investigated, and therefore the Republican ’Culture of Corruption’ TM is for real!!!!!" |
