I’m sure Plame’s book deal has nothing to do with this action. That would just mean I’m cynical and we can’t have that! |

There are still many people who believe Wilson & Plame’s version of events. In fact, the majority people probably do since the only significant contradiction is in a portion of the blogosphere. |

Like the entire rest of their ridiculous lives, this is nothing more than a stunt and will go nowhere. |

Even though Novak came out yesterday and said there was no attempt to ruin anybody in the course of the 20 seconds of conversation that led to all this. |

Even if it was legal for white house staff to talk to the press about the identity of an active CIA agent, does anybody really believe that they just accidentally identified her to the press. If you believe that I was just an accident, and there was no political agenda here. You are really hopelessly naive. |

If you believe that I was just an accident, and there was no political agenda here. You are really hopelessly naive. I really didn’t think that you were an accident, cindyb. I do believe that you have a political agenda, though.
However, don’t you find it just the tiniest bit odd that the CIA responded with "Why yes, she is!"? You’d think that the CIA would expend a little more effort using the cover story they must have had for Ms. Plame. |

And that identification did what? How does a 20 second recognition of someone on the phone, and an ’oh by the way’ in an article constitute a master plan to expose her or discredit her husband?
I notice Joe wasn’t much concerned when he made a public spectacle of himself writing an article about a secret mission for the NYT. That sort of thing usually causes people to start asking things like "who the hell is Joe Wilson" and looking into information about him. His wife is bound to show up on that radar at some point, and did. In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, Valerie Plame and her husband, Joseph Wilson, a former U.S. ambassador, accused Cheney, Rove and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby of revealing Plame’s CIA identity in seeking revenge against Wilson for criticizing the Bush administration’s motives in Iraq.
The CIA officer whose identity was leaked to reporters sued Vice President Dick Cheney, his former top aide and presidential adviser Karl Rove on Thursday, accusing them and other White House officials of conspiring to destroy her career Finally, Novak has clearly stated it’s ’none of the above’ as to who gave him the info originally, and Libby isn’t being charged with revealing it, he’s charged with lying during the investigation, remember?
If Cheney, Rove, Libby called Novak and said "Guess who’s a CIA agent!?, and if you don’t guess Valerie Plame first time around I’ll give you one other chance!" this would be different. |
