RIP, Steve! You entertained well while also creating 100s of millions of kids worldwide FAR more educated on critters, the need to be good stewards of the environment so that they too would have the world you gleefully worked in. Sometimes the manic "enthusiasm" you did for the camera was over the top pandering to your kiddie audience, but the underlying enthusiam known by all to be genuine. The world is far poorer without you!
There are going to be a lot of heartbroken people this morning when they hear he died.
Irwin’s shows were seen in some 80 countries, crossing cultures easily. Guy was a good animal "wrangler" who took slight risks of death regularly, had a few minor screws loose in the head - but the good kind - the eccentric screws that make for creativity. The shows may become timeless classics - him thinking he had snagged a 8 foot croc from his rowboat then finding he had a 16-foot p*ssed- off monster croc on the line, the show where he pretended he was a hopping, excited vulture so he could get physically into the Nile croc/vulture feeding frenzy over a decaying hippo carcass, or all the episodes of deadly poisonous snakes, lethal spiders he played chicken with.
I think he accepted he might get badly injured one day. I doubt he ever thought the agent delivering him to his maker would be a stingray. It was probably all filmed. One more show maybe - a 2-hour documentary "The Life and Death of the Crocodile Hunter". I hope it gets made, with the strike by the ray and Steve’s last minutes included in the footage....

We miss you.The animals miss you.
To all your friends and family I am so so very sorry...Sorry that people’s lives must go on without you Steve...That your children won’t be with you,your wife, and father...I’m so sorry .......I only know what I’ve seen on T.V. but you,Australia, and what you’ve done all over the world for the conservation of Crocs and all kinds of animals is AMAZING!!!!!! You really touched alot of people’s hearts..And certainly opened my eyes more to how beautiful earth’s creatures are............
Your death has really made me upset ... I could imagine what it’s like in australia right now...
REST IN PEACE.(It’s such a tradgedy, he was still so young)

steve we loved watching you on tv you were such a great character you loved working with animals and they love you. when i heard you had died i was so upset i said they must have got it wrong he cant be dead but it was true and now the world will be missing 1 of its most bravest loving strongest men i will miss you all my love to your wife and childern at this sad time all my love mike |
