Is it any question that similar thoughts went through the V-Tech shooter’s mind? The difference is that these church going folk understand that part of being good stewards of ourselves and the things He gives us is to also defend such things. That, against the state relieving our right to do so on a college campus. 1,000 rounds?! Poor judgment on his part none the less. Our hearts go out to the families of the two girls slain. |

No, it is up to the police to protect you. They should’ve stayed and died while waiting for the machinery of the local swat team to engage /sarcasm off |

Due to quirks of geography, I was able to see the whole press conference live on local TV.
Best presser I have ever seen - This woman exudes balance and inner calm. |

I noted yesterday that the major news media quotes from the minister were very selective when compared to blog reports. I guess the videos of the news conference that she spoke at will require the media to rewrite their stories where they seemed to be clouding the issue of who took down the killer and what their position was in the church. They can’t bury this one in the same manner they have with other stories where armed citizens have stopped or prevented such attacks. |

Hmm. Even can get last rites in one stop. How convenient. |

She was trained as a cop. You are ignoring that. She was a trained professional. She knew what to do. An ordinary citizen probably would have frozen at that moment. |

She knew what to do. An ordinary citizen probably would have frozen at that moment. Quit projecting. "Ordinary citizens" all over this country use guns every day to defend their lives and property.
Just because you might curl up into the doodlebug defensive position doesn’t mean that the majority of people will when faced with life-threatening danger. |

There is nothing extraordinary about police firearms training. It’s pretty mediocre, actually. |

In the case of the Colorado Springs incident, the female "guard" who shot the gunman was a former Minneapolis police officer (in the early ’90s) but a volunteer church security person who also had a license to carry a weapon.
And this:
But one armed church member, trained and prepared to use her weapon, ended it before it really got started. |

Also, there was a ’Nam vet there (he was one of the injured), who tried to either get those other two guards to act, or at least give up their weapons so HE could act.
Those two guys should be, frankly, ashamed of themselves. They left it to someone else to save the day, when thye had the means right there in their hands. |

Those two guys should be, frankly, ashamed of themselves. They left it to someone else to save the day, when thye had the means right there in their hands. From the vets testimony, we know that most of the churchgoers have run away and gotten out of the line of fire. The two security guards are probably waiting for the killer to expose himself or give them a good shot. His guns are bigger and better than theirs so they’re sure as hell not going to meet him in the open in a straight up fight. That is suicide. While they’re waiting for their shot, the vet runs up and starts yelling at them to give him a gun. They try to get him to stay under cover so he doesn’t get killed. But it turns out that he wants to get killed because he starts yelling at the gunman and draws the guys fire onto all three of them.
The only good thing is that while the vet was getting shot, he created the distraction that Jeanne Assam needed to take the killer down. Of course the vet didn’t know he was doing this at the time. It’s not like he knew where Jeanne was or actually had a plan other than martyring himself. |

Well, thank you for that ... unique ... opinion.
There’s a man tried to rob me a couple years back now doing a stretch in Michigan City when he found my pair of fours beat his .32. I am sure he will be relieved to find out his imprisonment is an illusion because I - lacking police and military training - froze. Especially since he did a few years in the Army.
