I think it’s fairly well known that the voting turnout has also been much lower for Republicans so far. Both situations underscore the "meh" or worse that Republicans are feeling about these candidates. Paul is the exception because his supporters, few though they may be, are passionate. If you know what I mean. |

Barack Obama is riding a tremendous tsunami of "Audacious Hope." He has the charisma to get Hollywood on his side plus the New York City and Washington D.C. media newsrooms. He has the support of the elites and the support of the inner cities. He is Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., and JFK all wrapped in one neat and charming package. He can get as much financial backing as he wants right now.
Hillary has the Democratic establishment behind her. She can still get funds.
McCain is toast in the general election. He gets dissected by the old media and the new media both. Only a compleat moronoimbecilioidiostupidiamo would even consider contributing to McCain at any time.
There were two republicans that can communicate well enough—and are honest enough—to get through to the public over the next 6 months. One has dropped out already. |

This feeds my notion that Paul ran the campaign he ran, highlighting the issue he highlighted, for the money.
He sacrificed electability for cash. Even if he can’t use it directly, that’s quite a piggybank he has some influence over. |

Ron Paul was never really electable — he’d never pull a Romney and change his positions to match the polls. But he might win Maine this weekend — I wouldn’t say it likely, but he has a shot. As goes Maine... |

What you are seeing is the result of the complete abandonment of the small government platform by both the white house and the Republicans in congress.
The irony is that they abandoned limited government in an effort to be popular, when in reality it was the only issue that Republicans ever had (besides anti-communism) that ever made them popular.
