Let me answer your question like this - the fact that the picture of Dukakis got out there probably did help Bush somewhat in ’88. That Bush’s campaign didn’t release it themselves was probably most important.
And that’s really the point of this. That and the stupidity of putting out a picture that infers something when there are pictures of her and her husband out there which, if the same standard is applied, would supposedly mean the same thing about them. |

Putting out funny pictures (Kerry not-catching a football?) is pretty standard.
I think that the story should be more about the Obama campaign’s response. The *only* things I’ve seen this morning are expressions of "yeah, so?" Or "this seems like an ordinary picture to me". Or "silly season".
Acting like the picture is a big deal or *ought* to fan fear and hatred is the most damaging response I’ve seen yet... and it comes from Obama.
(I actually have met a real person who believes Obama is a secret Muslim so I suppose that’s not a myth after all that some people are persuadable that way.)
I also recently told my husband that Obama wouldn’t put his hand over his heart or wear a flag pin so now I have to hear outrage over that... and when it comes right down to it, I’d care less if he actually *was* Muslim than I care that he somehow has a "thing" about conspicuously not revering the flag. I think that what *that* is about matters.
Flooding the country of picture of Obama not putting his hand over his heart while others do for the national anthem seems like some pictures that would move the campaign in ways a teenager dressing up in traditional clothing won’t do. |

The two dumbest things about APEC is making everyone wear the traditional clothing and the Karaoke. I hope we get to hold it once and make the Chinese guy wear an Indian headdress.
Kerry brought that football stuff on himself by making sure to play catch on the tarmac everytime he was waiting for his plane. This was supposedly to show how healthy and energetic he was. Instead he looked gay half the time. |
