I read that article also. I couldn’t believe it was on the front page of the Forum (Sunday Editorial Section). I always knew the Courier Journal was left of center, but this was stunning.

"El Tiempo", the top Colombian newspaper, is reporting that the "Freedom Fighters" got caught just 1800 metres, about one mile, inside Ecuadorian territory where they were caught literally with their pants down.
Ecuadorian Press reports they were all in states of undress, some in their underwear, others in their pyjamas, which is why Chavez called it a massacre, as if killing murdering kidnappers requires them to be fully dressed in order to be fair. Let’s hope the other killers in Colombia enjoy the same nightmare soon!
More to the point, the El Tiempo editorial calling for calm got MORE RESPONSES than any other editorial in the site’s history; more than 4000 people wrote in 99% of whom said "Bring it On" to Chavez and Correa.
One blogger even said it had given him a whole new outlook on world affairs; suddenly America and Israel were not the bad guys anymore! For that, if for nothing else, we should say thank you to Messrs. Reyes, Chavez, Correa annd Ortega.
The devil is waiting for you in Hell, Raul Reyes, and let’s hope that he treats you as badly as you treated the thousands you kidnapped and kept for eternity in that Hell you call Home! |
