Spitzer hooker granted immunity

Not that I'm particularly surprised that she was granted immunity, I'm just wondering how extensive that immunity might be. From what I've heard she's been doing her thing since she was 19 and is now 22. That's a lot of money the IRS might be interested in. I'm not saying I want the IRS sicced on her, I'm bringing it up to try to understand how extensive the immunity she's been granted might be (or said another way, how hard a bargain her lawyer pushed).

I'm also interested in the last paragraph of the quote from the Daily News:

The high-class hooker whose tryst with Eliot Spitzer brought down the governor has been given immunity to testify in the investigation of a worldwide prostitution ring.

Word that Manhattan federal prosecutors have given Ashley Alexandra Dupré immunity came as members of the Spitzer administration were feeling high heat in the expanding probe.

Workers for Spitzer's election campaign have hired lawyers, preparing to meet with probers looking into whether Spitzer illegally used campaign donations to get to and from his trysts with hookers.

So they're looking into the possible use of campaign funds?

Even Spitzer couldn't have believed he could get away with that could he? Or, if he used them, is that just another example of his arrogance? Any guess as to how deeply into the NY political scene this is going to reach - not the hookers particularly, but the possible use of campaign funds, the possibility of blackmail, whether the AG/Gov was protecting a prostitution ring, possible mob connections.

Somehow I have a feeling that Eliot Spitzer may end up in a prison cell for quite a long time when this is all over.

From what I understand, she has a song online and its being downloaded enough to make her over $1 million. This is going to work out for her from what I can tell.

My guess is that immunity means immunity from criminal prosecution for tax evasion, but not immunity from actually owing the tax.

My guess is that you would have to be convicted in order to fall under the Son of Sam law.

I would think the company she worked for would have been sure to take care of all taxes, including withholding and payroll (unless she’s an independent contractor). Maybe the immunity isn’t from tax law violations?

As far as the "Son of Sam" law, even if she’s convicted by the feds, would a NY State law have any meaning in this case?

I don’t think that this is going to put ES in jail. Although I could be wrong, and his obviously huge sense of entitlement could well have had him using funds that he shouldn’t have, remember that his family is enormously wealthy, and he’s had a 6 and 7 digit income for years. That’s a good bit of "disposable income".

As for the charges - think about who’s doing this: "Manhatten federal prosecutors". Two of those three words just scream "publicity hound".
