That’s odd, I thought the role of the superdelegates was to select a candidate based on the results of the primaries and caucases—not to pre-empt the results of the remaining elections. Am I misunderstanding this? It sounds like Dean is trying to game his own system to achieve an earlier result. Frankly, the Democratice primary system is a complete mess. |

1) How can Howard Dean "Demand" anything of the Super Delegates...Were I one, I’d say "I’ll decide when I decide." There’s no rule or by-law that demands they decide by any particular date, is there?
2) Were I a Super Delegate I don’t know how I’d vote now...I think Clinton stands a better chance in November, but Obama has the most delegates...If you vote for the November candidate you run the risk of splitting the party, because you are saying "F*ck you" to the voters. But a vote for the voter’s choice can lead to a 1972-style tub-thump’n...better to hold off. Mayhap "that Womon" can score some late-minute victories and upsets and close the gap giving cover for a smart Democratic choice.
Bottom-Line: it’s not a requirement and it’s not in the best interests of the Super-Delegates to vote now; why should they? |

Actually, Dr. Dean’s demands dovetail nicely with labor unions’ insistence that votes on unionization proposals be open. Dems want to know who you’re voting for so that if you’re not voting for the "favored" result (whatever that is) there is sufficient time to pound you into the ground for your impudence.

Remember who the super delegates are - democrat politicians. They effectively render the entire democrat presidential primary process invalid by saying, "You little people vote for anyone you want, but in the end, we politicians will decide who runs."
Yesterday, I watched a YouTube video of a live poll in a democrat focus group during the Pennsylvania debate. Afterward, Frank Luntz asked the group if they would vote for McCain if their favorite lost. Over half raised their hands.
