Nope. I have different standards for the US government in 2008 than I do for a Cuban revolutionary circa 1958. But that’s not actually my point. My point is that all the thugery you mention is bad, but similar things and much worse are routinely forgiven those who are putatively on "our" side. Thus such compalints, made as they are only about those who’ve already be convicted as enemies, are nugatory as reasons to despise Nuestro Comandante. |

Well first of all, this isn’t about the US government, is it?... than I do for a Cuban revolutionary circa 1958. Yeah, I forgot ... murder wasn’t murder when he was doing it, was it Retief?
And drumming up a tu quoque, no matter how tortured still doesn’t answer the question in the title, does it?

You already know the answer to the question in the title. You just don’t like it. Che successfully overthrew an evil tyrant and then died before he could get bogged down in a 50 year tyrany of his own. Thus the glory of fighting oppression adheres to him while the messiness of Cuba’s history since does not. Which makes him cool in a way that anti-revolutionaries never can be. |
