The Republicans are pandering for air-time which they feel translates to votes, they aren’t appealing to voters directly.
Attention is something the media will give them under the right circumstances like pitching big government because it reinforces and/or validates the Democrat’s message and where the Left wants to go. |

It is still frightening how many people think the government should ’do more to solve our countries problems’. I would like to have seen a follow up question asked along the lines of ’do you feel the government IS the problem’. |

I forget how many times I’ve pointed out that the GOP’s biggest victories in the last thirty years were when they stood up unabashedly for small government principles (Reagan, and the 1994 Congress takeover).
WHY DON’T THEY GET IT?
I thought these guys want to be elected! I thought they wanted to stay in the majority! WTF?!? Are they just stupid?
I really, really don’t get it. I understand that politicians are often not that bright to start with, and that they’ll pander at the drop of a hat. But how many lessons do Republicans need in what works and what doesn’t? |

Billy,
Its no fun to cut government programs. Its much more fun to have officials be obsequious to your power, show benevolence to certain groups, and to claim credit for helping people. |
