Can someone please explain what is wrong with a business making a profit. I don’t consider 8 to 10% an unreasonable return on an investment. I have managed businesses at $25M per year, and my bosses expected me to have revenues exceed costs by 12 to 15%. Otherwise, they could fire everyone sell the plant and put their money in stocks. This is America. We are supposed to make money.
Bruce is absolutely correct about taxes. When the government taxes a product, they do not tax the business. They tax the consumer. Gasoline is a perfect example. If Exxon’s crude oil prices increase, they raise the prices accordingly and drivers get the bill. The next time you see Chuck Schumer’s swarmy face complaining about windfall profits on oil think about this. At $4 per gallon, Exxon makes 40¢; New York State, 63¢ and the US Government, 24¢. Who’s zoomin’ who?
The best thing the government could do is remove the unreasonable restrictions on energy and fuel producers, open the continental shelf to oil exploration and production, fast track environmental impact surveys for refineries and power plants and eliminate the boutique gasoline requirements imposed be individual states.
We are in this fix today because of the actions of our government. The least they can do is get the f**k out of the way and let the free markets work their way out. |

Saying that drilling must be considered as part of a broader energy policy is the political equivalent of saying .. "I’d like to talk about something else" as this stance gives him the final option, most notably after the election, to simply say no.
There is no real change .. Obama just doesn’t like being beaten about the head and face by an issue that he knows will take him down. His energy policy (as outlined on his web site) has no such point that would include additional oil drilling and he has repeatedly said that it won’t help.

I just cannot wait for the MSM to tell us why Obama is now flip-flopping changing his mind on offshore drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
Perhaps it is because he "cares" about the American people. The same people he wants to take a large dildo and shove up their backsides.
The same people who, if they realize that he is saying something completely different this week from last week, are "just not listening to me."
The same people who are bitter about the guns and their bibles.
The same people who, if they happen not to support him, are just mean and racist and all that.
How this man still has a chance at winning is beyond me. Watch some of the sheeple at his "rallies" and you can tell that this country is in deep trouble. Some of them applaud when he clears his throat to think up something to follow "hope" and "change." |
