Joe! we want to thank you for years of service to the Democratic party - So, first, we’re NOT going to back you for re-election as Senator from Connecticut.
And...now that we think about it some more, because you keep taking stands based on your personal principles instead of our party line, we’re going to take your chairmanship away from you, after all, we don’t NEED you now.
but thanks for all your service! |

If Lieberman wants to be a complete imbecile - I never liked him, and still don’t - he can continue to caucus with the party that has its fingerprints all over that knife in his back, that is now trying to cut off his oxygen. If he gets some brains for once, he will tell Der Dumbkopf Harry Reid that he will now caucus with the Republicans, costing Dems another vote in their move to make the Senate filibuster-proof.
How many people want to be me that Lieberman takes the former road rather than the latter? |

Reid might put Lieberman’s fate to secret vote of the Democratic caucus when the lame-duck Senate convenes in two weeks, sources tell Politico.
WTF? THEY get a secret vote?
Brave, brave sir Robin turned his tail and ran away! |

Talk about revisionist history. Revisionst? They wanted him as the Democratic Senator for Connecticut, but he chose to run as an independent on his own?

Come on, I’m waiting to hear how Democrats wanted him to be their Senator from Connecticut, but he decided on his own to run as an independent instead.
Tell us about how they loved Lieberman so much they selected Lamont as their candidate for Senator.
Then we can discuss how many other states the incumbent Senators from the Democratic party had to face off against an opponent from their own party in a primary election.
Come on Dave, you can do it.

I thought that I heard that the committee chairmanship in question was Homeland Security.
It would, of course, be something of a "bipartisan" gesture to allow Lieberman to continue. But I suspect that Obama wants him out of that job and made that instantly clear to Reid. Someone friendlier to the White House is going to be needed for handing out all the gift baskets available from that department. Chicago, at least, needs more fruit, processed cheese, and summer sausage.
"Honest Joe" might become a stone in Rahm Emanuel’s shoe if Joe continues to chair a juicy committee like that. That mob in Chicago might be needed on a moment’s notice. |

Well hell Martin. Lieberman might ask for oversight of the new National Security force.
His principles might get inconvenient. |

Lieberman will keep everything, Senate seats are tough to swing, they’d be crazy to give one away, even if it seems like it might not matter for the moment.

I think it’s incredibly stupid for Democrats to pi$$ off Lieberman. He, along with Specter, Snowe and Collins are right there at the margin for purposes of overriding vetoes and he probably has more leverage than ever. That being said, I hope he gets good and mad. |

Of course that is assuming Obama decides to stand up to Pelosi and govern as a centrist, which is probably just a pipe dream. I guess Reid doesn’t think they’ll be any vetoes to override. I retract my previous comment. |
